Savior and Friend WEEK 2 - PART 2

Say your Bible verse out loud:
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16
Can you say it without having to look or read it?

Here is another verse where Jesus calls us His friends.
John 15:14-15
14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

That is wonderful news! So wonderful we should sing about it!!!
See if you can do the hand motions along with the words to this song.

I Have a Friend Who Loves Me!

Let's look at the John 15 verses again.
In verse 14 Jesus calls His friends if we do what He commands. That means we're His friends when we obey Him, God, and the Holy Spirit.
His commands are found in the Bible, of course, but you probably know many of Jesus' commands already.

In your spiral on the next clean page, write or draw some of the commands you already know that Jesus said. Don't forget to put your NAME and DATE on the page.
Here's a hint: Jesus became famous when He proclaimed the "Golden Rule." (Look in the Bible in Luke 6:31 if you need more help.)
Can you think of other commands, perhaps about your (hint, hint) neighbors? Write or draw about them too.

One last thing for this lesson:
Let's look at a few of the MANY things Jesus did for us:
1. He rescued us, redeeming us from our sinfulness. Our memory verse says if we believe in Jesus we will enjoy eternal life, a life in heaven that will last forever!
2. He taught us "everything [He] learned" from the Father. It's all in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. And it's just one of the many reasons why reading the Bible and scripture memorization are so important.
3. We haven't covered this topic yet, but after Jesus went into heaven He sent us a helper, the Holy Spirit, to be with us always. It is the Holy Spirit that teaches us, speaks to our hearts, and guides us throughout our lives. We are never alone because the Holy Spirit is ever-present with us. We will learn more about this in future lessons.
