What Does Being an Image Bearer Mean? WEEK 1 - PART 2
(For non-readers, have a reader read the post aloud and work through questions together, allowing time for the non-reader to draw answers in the notebook.)
God made each of us and we bear His image.
That is a very special thing. Just think, we could be deer, or ladybugs, or Redwood trees instead. But we are not.
We are created in the likeness of God and we look like Him.
Consider how family members look similar. They resemble their parents or siblings. We look like our family and we look like our God.
Read your answers out loud.
When God looked at what He had created He said, "That's good!"
When God looked and Adam and Eve and the garden, He said, "That's really good!"
You are not only God's image bearer, you are one of His planned creations. And He looks at what He has created in you and He says, "That's really good!"
Imagine that! God looks at you with loving eyes and pronounces you really good.
Did you get that way by accident or by design?
CERTAINLY YOU ARE EXACTLY YOURSELF BY GOD'S DESIGN!!
When you were unborn and still inside your mother God knew you and loved you.
Even before that, He planned your existence, who your parents and siblings would be. There is not one day of your life that God did not know about.
The Bible says in Psalms 139:3-6
13
For you created my inmost being;you knit me together in my mother’s womb.14I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;your works are wonderful,I know that full well.15My frame was not hidden from youwhen I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.16Your eyes saw my unformed body;all the days ordained for me were written in your bookbefore one of them came to be.
Today's activity requires you to use a mirror, markers or crayons, and paper.
1. Open your notebook to the next clean page and put your name and date on this page. Use a separate sheet of paper to complete this activity, then glue it into your spiral on this page.
2. Look in the mirror and study the amazing creation that you are.
3. Draw yourself. Not just your head or face. Draw your whole body.
4. Add details. What color are your eyes and hair? What clothes do you have on today?
5. Now color in the picture and make it really special, just like you are!
6. At the top of your picture write these words, "I AM AN IMAGE BEARER."
Don't forget to glue or tape it into your spiral.
