Choices Have Consequences WEEK 5 - PART 1

To modify lessons for younger learners, have them do all the listening exercises. Then have a reader ask them the questions allowing them time to illustrate their answers. Reduce the number of questions if necessary or limit the answer choices.

Before we start this week's lessons, we need to define some unfamiliar words we will be using this week. Go to the last 5 pages of this spiral and mark them as a glossary.
Then look up the following words and copy their definitions into your spiral on the first glossary page.

REAP         RESTITUTION
PREDICT         AUTHORITY

Also copy your Bible memory verse for this week:
Do not deceive yourselves; no one makes a fool of God. A man will reap exactly what he plants.   Galatians 6:7 TEV

This one little verse sure packs a wallop!
Several words really stand out. The word "fool" is used as an opposite description of God. God cannot be foolish or be made into a fool. This is impossible.
The second word that jumps out is "exactly." We know that the Bible speaks truth because it is the Word of God. And this verse says that a person will get "exactly" what s/he deserves.
Think about that! Not just a taste of his/her own medicine, but repayment from God for all actions (good and bad) is perfectly just and precisely correct.

This reminds me of this song. It's an oldie but a goodie:

Our focus this week is that our choices always have consequences. A consequence is an unavoidable result of something we do or fail to do. Everyone has consequences, adults and children alike. Look on page 3-1 of your booklet to find the definition of consequence and also this week's memory verse.

Whose big idea was it anyway to have consequences?

Adam and Eve disobeyed God and as a consequence they were sent out of the Garden of Eden. Please note how Adam blamed Eve, and Eve in turn blamed the serpent. The Blame Game is as old as sin!!!

Meet the sisters Tameka and Jenny! Choose the LISTEN IN BROWSER option.

Answer these questions in your spiral on the next blank page. Put your NAME and DATE at the top.
1. Did you notice the person in the tree on your booklet page 3-1? What will be the consequence of sawing through the limb?
2. What do you get if you plant a rose bush? Draw your answer.
3. What do you get if you plant weeds? Draw your answer.
4. What will happen if you make a good or bad choice?

Here are some actions and consequences. Use them to help you fill out worksheet 2 "Choices Have Consequences" from Appendix C. When you are finished, glue it into your spiral.
