Extending the Lesson - WEEK 3

[Jesus said,]
"Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God."
Matthew 5:9

On page 1-9 of your workbook is a test.

Don't worry, you won't be graded! (Phew!)

Stop here and complete page 1-9.

This activity can be modified for younger learners by using situations C or D only. And for non-readers, have a reader read situation C with these answer choices 1, 4, 7, and 10.

Were any of your answers 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, or 9? Did you use any answers more than once? If you were to give yourself a grade on this test, would it be an A, B or C?

No matter what your grade on your test is, make sure you know this:
God is with you - even in conflict!
He will help you stay on top of the slippery slope. Because He is with you, you can be confident that conflict is an opportunity to do good things. Specifically, through conflict you can learn to grow to please God, be more Christ-like, and to learn to serve others better.

Now you get to evaluate how Bible characters measure up. Remember, none of the characters of the Bible were perfect, except Jesus. So don't be afraid to identify the ones who "Blew It!" You may learn something in the process.

Complete page 1-10 in your workbook. When you're done, glue it into your spiral notebook

Say this week's Bible verse from memory. Write it in your spiral. Way to go!

Here is a fun way to practice staying on top of  The Slippery Slope: watch a video or television program or read a book with your family and write a description of how the story characters handle conflict in terms of the slipper slope diagram.

Closing Prayer for Week 3:
Dear Lord, I have a lot to learn about conflict and how to handle it better. Most of the time I respond by escaping or attacking. I can see now that those responses make conflicts worse and even hurt my relationships with others. Teach me how to be a peacemaker, Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Comments

  1. We did the end extended activity today. I had kids write down their test answers, but we talked through the rest. We only did David and Goliath from the Bible Heroes sheet, but what a great story and reminder of FAITH!
